Can someone describe canon breath?
I've heard it described as 'breath of fire through the firm packed/o-shaped mouth' and that it has a cooling effect instead of heating.
Does someone know more about this and how to do it correctly? Does it have to be done slower or at the same speed as BOF?
I can't seem to find a lot of info on the internet.
Thanks!

Re: Can someone describe canon breath?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 2:03 AMIt's just breath of fire through a round mouth rather than the nostrils.
Same speed as BOF, mouth in O shape, but not too puckered (i.e. no whistling), don't bulge the cheeks.

The method of breathing about which you are asking is "seetali parnayam",the cooling one.
In this the tong is rounded off and is taken outside the mouth and air/breathing is taken through the tong and exhaled through nostril.
This is mainly done in heavy heat environment or heavy heat in body.

Thu, March 5, 2009 - 7:52 AMyes this is correct with the tongue curled/rounded into a "tube" and extended a bit outside the mouth for the inhale; exhaled through the nose.

Re: Can someone describe canon breath?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 8:43 AMSitali Pranayam is slightly different than Cannon Breath.
Sitali Pranayam has the tongue curled and extended beyond the "O" shaped lips -- it is the "cooling breath."
Cannon Breath keeps the tongue relaxed in the mouth with the lips still in the "O" shape.
There is also a Cannon Fire exhale, which is one massive exhale through the round mouth.

Re: Can someone describe canon breath?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 11:29 AMOh, and Sitali Pranayam is called the cooling breath because moisture evaporates off the tongue as you inhale, cooling the incoming air.

Thu, March 12, 2009 - 2:14 PMI think Cannon breath is known as Ujjayi Pranayam.
