Hello there,
I am traveling to India and have the opportunity, time wise, to stay at an ashram if possible.
recommend any from personal experience or have heard of one in particular?
price is an issue, so nothing outrageous.
also would you mind sharing your experience =)
peace and love.

Re: hi. traveling to India, recommend and Ashram?
Sat, August 23, 2008 - 9:47 AMHi scottie,
I stayed in no ashram, but i can give you some recommendations:
- Travel by aircraft (very cheap) if you can, if not, by train. In no case by bus, it's a true pain.
- If you trip by train, get first sleeping class + air conditioned ticket, it's cheap and very comfortable. Don't get second class or less or you will sleep few or nothing. Always get your tickets one or two days before departure, and very important: In every train station there's an office for tourists, you can easily book your tickets there without waiting in long queues. Dismiss folks in the stations that will offer you alternative ways to travel, they are cheating you.
- In cities and towns, if you get a taxi, demand the driver to shut all windows, the air contamination in indian cities is huge. You're advised.
- Medicines: Bring something for stopping diarrhea and relieving fever. Also a first aid for malaria, just in case. Get vaccinated.
- BRING A GOOD MOSQUITO NET!!!
- Always drink bottled water, shut your mouth in the shower, caution with salads and raw foods.
And good luck! -

Mon, October 13, 2008 - 12:14 PMIf you happen to go to South India, please visit Bhagyodayam Yoga Ashram, in Trivandrum Kerala.
Girija Maa is an amazing Yogini. Her classes are one of a kind and her knowledge of Yoga is very deep.
South India is very easy to travel in and beautiful. Loving people, amazing food , awesome temples, delightful beaches and
fantastic weather from mid October till early March.
