Hello!

Some weeks ago i posted a question about how going beyond Swadishthana...

I've succeeded and arrived to Anahata. But now i'm not sure if that's Kundalini... sounds to me i've achieved too fast. : )

My experience is something like a powerful, orgasmic energy ball that pushes me towards a meditative state (i partially disconnect from the outside), a kind of buzzing sound is heard inside my head, sometimes it makes my body jerk. It follows a straight path when ascending.
All this happens with my will power, it is me who produces it.
But no sidhis or spiritual experiences yet (i'm not looking for them, i just wanna follow the right path).

¿Could this be just concentrated prana?

Thanks a lot

  • Hi, not that I am an expert or anything, but having read your posting, this 100% sounds like kundalini to me. (LOL lots of love). I too have joined the shaktipat with yogi badan. For this I will just sit. I have been meditating for a little while and tried so many different techniques. Mainly active meditation, but I feel that for shaktipat it needs to switch to a more passive meditation. I feel it is complete surrender. I feel surrender is a form of Bhakti yoga, devotional. Complete surrender to the Guru, the shatipat master, the lineage. What we really surrender to is possibly the divinity within ourselves. However this is done by complete trust in the GURU, in the Master, in the lineage. During the shaktipat I will just sit and breathe. Chant a short mantra. Visualise the GURU, the Master, the lineage, but mainly just try to let go, surrender, focus on the breath, ask God/Goddess for help and surrender. Complete surrender. This Path is about doing nothing in the meditation, just let go. For you, allow the energy ball that pushes you towards a meditative state happen. Surrender to it. I believe, correctly or not, that what you experience is what in Hinduism is called entering the cave of Brahma or third ventricle in the head. This happens when kundalini becomes active, as does the sound of bee's or humming, buzzing sound in the head. (Please forgive me if I am incorrect, as I am only a student in these matters.)

    • Namaste Jeremy,

I shall try today, 21st January.
      • I am totally amazed.

I have been ... in a ... "Devil's Circle" of ignorance for the past few years.

All this ... ENERGY running up and down my spine ... beings in my head and around me ... taunting me to meditate again. Being a loner, I never joined a songha nor got a teacher. I used to do Vipassana Mediation ... and I went deep ... then I stopped ... and then ... all this began.

It took me out of my life ... and onto a road of learning ... that has finally brought me back to California ... and now to look at Yoga.

About a year ago I became a truck driver, and every day was pure torture. All that energy playing around my waist ... my throat ... the back of my neck ... inside my head ... all the messages!! All the searches for answers ...

And now .. to reach outside the circle of delusion/confusion ... and to arrive at what may be the answer. Greek Orthodox religion and Christ-Centered comptemplative meditation ... or does the answer rest with yoga. Kundalini Yoga specifically?

From what I'm reading ... it may be both ... but certainly ... answers are here. Can anyone be so kind as to comment?
        • Fred
all our thoughts are a result of our ego ( my body, my thoughts, my god, my wife, my job, my feelings, my pain, my pleasure ).
This universe is your mother and you are forever attached to her... weather with body (pleasure or pain) and with thoughts (pleasant or unpleasant).whever you get time, remember to sleep in her womb, your soul secure and blissful irrespective of whats happening
around you.Once you realize this ...may be you will realize that the energy too is an illusion just like your body and whats true
is you ..the universe..the all encompassing, the all pervading, the all steady the unchangable the ever blissful.

          .
          • Thank you ... but it's going to take me a lot of work to "relax" in all that has been going on inside me for the past few years.

It won't even allow me to sit Vipassana. Keeps bouncing me out ... interuptions ... lots of pain around my waist.

I need a teacher. Just reading ... just observing that others have experience and information about this is ... well ... a huge sigh of relief in itself.

This is going to force me to come out of isolation.

            peace
            • hi fred. it sounds like you may have somehow stimulated the shakti/ kundalini energy and it is moving to fast. you also may have some blocks that you are running into that can cause you all kinds of discomfort. i suggest going to get DARSHAN from Ammachi in july she will be in the states, she is a perfect master and has been working wiTh me and my kundalini experiences. she smoothes everything out and allows you time to really understant what is going on. when you go for her darshan, ask her in your mind if she can help you with your kundalini experiences and she will show you the way. maybe not verbally, but keep faith and listen and she will help. often times just getting her hug will heal you worries and solve ALL your problems right away too.

  • Just out of curiosity ,

    1. when you are moving towards a meditative state, how is your tongue placed ? is it relaxed on the floor of the mouth
or pressed on the pallette /roof of the mouth ?
    2. When you are in that state, what is your conciousness level. In the sense if a phone rings , does you mind get startled ?
Or lets the startling thought flow past you ?
    • Namaste Sachin,

      I answer:

      1. Relaxed on the floor.
      2. Thought flows past.
      • Namaste Panoramix and Lk

The reason I asked this question on this discussion thread is because I am trying to learn the physiological changes happening
to my body since the past 5-6 years. 5 years back my Guru guided me to wear a rudraksha and read Dnyaneshwari. Being a
non-religious guy I was never keen on reading religious books and also I didnt want to read a book which I couldnt understand
( I am not well versed in sanskrit so no point in reading the sanskrit version). I got an english version on the net
www.hinduweb.org/home/dhar...hirvaikar/ and realized that its actually a collection of "Yogas"
to realize the universe within yourself. It has nothing to do with religion as it is to do with spirituality.

Once when I was reading chapters 3 through 6 in office during my free time , I noticed that some kind of force around the jaw is pushing my tongue to the pallette (roof of the mouth) and some kind of a fluid - pleasant feeling is running from the pallette into my throat . I have smoked a cigerette only once, but this "high" was atleast 100 times more (could be more than this) . Coincidence has it, This is the exact time, that I received my Rudraksha in office by courier. I dont know if the phenomena was because of the Dnyaneshwari and my first realization of difference between ego and soul or was it because of the rudraksha. The reason I am saying this is because I have worn rudraksha before, but I never felt anything like this . When I opened my box, and kept the 6-mukhi rudraksha in my hand, the "High" increased even more.
So much so that I couldnt not concentrate on my work. In our lab, when I went to run a script on the server, I couldnt do it.. as I couldnt think about anything ..this bliss was too much to handle then. So from then for almost 2-3 years, I removed the rudraksha and would wear it only during my morning and evening meditation. Mind well , friends, through out this time, I never gave up any of my humanly normal things like drinking alcohol, eating non-veg anything. However 3 years down the line, I got married , and are expecting our first baby in march.
Nowadays, I dont feel like drinking alcohol, and eating non-veg..has reduced, not a passion like it used to be.
I can also wear rudraksha without getting completely dragged into the fog like bliss. It helps me to meditate , however now I also feel
a spasm in my lower abdomen ( below the navel) . when I get into that "no-thought" state during meditation this spasm pulls me
out of it. When I come out of the no-thought state, the spasm/catch gets released and the muscle relaxes. I also feel a bliss like feeling
which contracts my neck muscles ( somewhat like what body builders do when they perform on stage) . This bliss like feeling happens
when either I am on my way to no-thought state or after I am woken up from no-thought state. ( when I am in no-thought state , there is no
physical feeling..its like a steady awake sleep state..somewhat like how a baby would experience in a mother's womb..is my closest analogy to this experience ) .

For the past 5-6 years I never asked anyone about this , since I didn't know anyone else too would be experiencing such stuff. Also somehow a realization has come that probably if I stay steady on this path it will lead me to realize the universal self. Can anyone please guide me to any literature that could explain this phenomena. I couldn't find this in Dnyaneshwari as the effects of kundalini explained in that are higher than what I am experiencing right now and so I am sure that this is not kundalini. However this feels like a preparation of the
        body to accommodate kundalini.

        Regards
        sachin

        • Hi sachin,

That sweet fluid that put you high, undoubtedly was Amrita, the ambrosial nectar. It is secreted in the brain, in a point called bindu, and drips down the nasopharynx to the throat.
Scientifically looks like it is cerebrospinal fluid laden with ions and neurotransmitters. Those neurotransmitters are what put you high.

          Read this (taken from www.iyogaclub.com):

"The cavity within the center of the spinal column itself both makes and contains cerebrospinal fluid. The supercharged body and expanded energy-field must act like a cyclotron on the spine. The cerebrospinal fluid becomes supercharged with ions and laden with neuropeptides, during awakening, accumulating to crescendo point with the inner-conjunctions. At the height of the awakening all the cerebrospinal fluid becomes Amrita, or nectar of the Gods as it is saturated with ions, endorphins, glutamate, neuropeptides and various neurotransmitters.

Along with circulation of this fluid up the spine and around the brain cavities, the increased permeability between the cerebrospinal fluid and the blood following histamine release, could allow the elixir to flow within the bloodstream as well. After it bathes the brain and spine cerebrospinal fluid is reabsorbed into venus sinus blood via arachnoid villi projecting into the superior sagittal sinus.

The amrita in the blood then would hyper-relax the entire bodymind and thereby energy is conserved and accumulated for the inner-conjunction. Supplanting the normal laborious flow of energy through nervous tissue this "spark," reminiscent of lightning, zaps many volts through the organism. Like lightning the spark could comprise of wave pulses of energy between the positive and negative poles, but moving so fast as to be perceived as one ongoing current.

Changing the voltage across a neuron membrane can open channels that allow various kinds of ions (including calcium ions) to enter and leave the neuron. The membrane's conductivity to ions is voltage dependent. The movement of ions (which constitutes an electric current) cause further changes in the membrane and so on--thus perpetuating a superfluid, supercharged state. There are references in the texts, especially those on Tantric Kriya Yoga on the magnetizing and ionizing of the cerebrospinal fluid. This ionized fluid then awakens and transforms the brain and broadens the range of conscious and sensory prehension."

They have to be swallowed so that further biological processes of spiritual nature go on. Have a look to the following link:
          www.aypsite.org/forum/topic.asp

It is advised to have purified your Vishuddha Chakra before awakening Bindu, as in place of nectar it could ooze poison.

Have a look to Kundalini Tantra of Sw. Satyanada:
          www.eng.vedanta.ru/library/...hakra.php
          www.eng.vedanta.ru/library/...sarga.php

          Table of contents:
          www.eng.vedanta.ru/library/...tents.php

Practices like paranayama or Kriya Yoga lead to amrita production. An strong bhakti or a Kundalini awakening can unleash also it.

The movement of your tongue could probably have been an spontaneous Kechari Mudra, a mudra that triggers amrita secretion. It automatically happens to some individuals during deep meditation or ecstasy. During Kechari, tongue is inserted in the nasopharynx and drawn to the base of the skull, where some nerves/nadis are stimulated.

As to the spams you feel during your meditation state, let me speculate and tell you that it might about an spontaneous Udiyana Bandha. Like mudras, some bandhas also unwillingly might happen during yogic practices. The aim of a physical contraction is to achieve a relaxation or an unlocking in the subtle body, so that pranic reservoirs are released.

Sounds to me your body instinctively tends to perform some yogic techniques, practices you performed in your past lifes surely.

As to rudrakshas, i'm totally clueless about. I've very occasionally practiced japa.

          Hope this helped.

          Good luck!
  • Hi!

When I meditate I experience kundalini in a number of different ways at different times.

    1) Sensations of intense pulsing warmth in the area of the chakra I am focusing on
    2) Sensations of great pressure and sometimes popping in the area of the chakra
    3) Sensations of lightness or floating
    4) A burning sensation similar to sunburn
    5) Shivers or intense vibrating or pulsing
    6) Sensations of intense pleasure, a feeling of melting or absorption, and also not being able to move.

Practicing meditation and yoga makes you happier, brighter, more balanced, focused, powerful, calm and insightful every day. If you notice an upward momentum in your life, if you are happier (not manic, but really happier) and notice less and less negative emotional experiences, then you are practicing correctly.

    Happy travels :)

    Ajna
    • Hi Ajna,

I have very similar sensations to yours!

But i read once that when K pierces Swadishtana Chakra buried mental stuff pops up from the unconscious, i think that it's this what is happening to me:

Actually i'm coping with a kind of disinterment of bad experiences of the past, people who treated me wrong at school, university and work. My mind tends to revive these experiences and to be victorious for this time. It is like my mind liked to fight and win, i feel a lot of aggressiveness for those people (i would beat them) while the mental revival lasts.

Then i try to rationalize, and tell myself that it's ok, that it's just part of the cleansing process, to be patient, to remember that i also treated people wrong, to look at what happy i'm now working at home as a freelancer, with no evil to stand around.

      It's difficult...

      : )
      • Hi Panoramix

I used to feel these "anger" impulses often. Then however I decided consciously, that probably the "hurt" is happening to the ego
because the universe wants us to forget our ego. When meditating, this realization led me to "come out" of my wrapper - ego, feelings, thoughts, and "sleep" in the womb of the universe, where I have always been connected - before birth, during life, after death.
There are no feelings there, no emotions, no thoughts..only a steady bliss of being connected to the universe.

I am thinking this will happen to you, once you stop rationalizing your "behavior" against the wrongs done to you and by you, cause all that
is just, ego at work, the wrapper on the pure you...the soul. so it was not you , who was insulted or was the insulter, it was your ego. You have been a silent spectator..always connected to the universal consciousness.

Being admist evil, being insulted and still being at peace can happen only when u realize this , and being admist evil is sort of an exercise for your soul to tell your intellect, that You are the pure light and not the ego.

you will realize It to be very easy

        Om Hreem Shreem GuruBhyo Namah

  • Hi Panoramix,

Kundalini *is* concentrated prana! Not that it matters.

Sounds like you're doing just fine, My experiences of kundalini within my own chakra meditation practice have been:

    1) heat or warmth in the area of the chakra
    2) quick involuntary vibration or twitching in the area of the chakra
    3) pressure in the area of the chakra
    4) mild to very noticeable burning sensations in the area of the chakra
    5) feelings of absorption or opening in the area of the chakra
    6) increased sensitivity in the area of the chakra

    Cheers!

    Ajna
    • Namaste Ajna

I have a question about 'concentrating' Prana, are there any Yogas which we can follow to increase prana ?
I have heard that kapalabhati yoga and using the Ashwin mudra while performing any form of chanting or japa helps to increase
      prana.

      Om Hreem Shreem Gurubhyo Namaha
      • Hi!

I'm not sure I can answer your question as I'm not familiar with that style of yoga or mudra.

Meditation increases prana. Visiting places of power, places that have a lot of prana can help increase your prana. Various yoga practices and techniques can help, as well as any kind of cardio-vascular exercise. But all of these only help because you can enter meditative states through these types of engagements. Ultimately, from what I have learned, disciplined meditation practice is the best way to consistently raise your level of prana.

        Hope this helps!

        Ajna
