Can someone speak to the actual practice of Kundulini Yoga?
Does it more involve controling the breath?
Is it solely done during intercourse?

Sun, March 1, 2009 - 5:44 PMehhhh...........
we're all different...
but
kundalini usually stirs during meditations,
I'll get up and start dancing, shaking, convulsing, rhythmically of course.
Jolting my head back in bliss, with a cobra twitch.
Lots of breathwork, PRANAYAMA
gibberish is vocalized and rearranges the psyche.
every chakra's got a different dance,
dancing thru them
and learning about my spectrum of consciousness.
who I am,
how I work.
Focus on one point,
then all points
on the rainbow of our spines.
(Who we are, how we work)
I make faces while I'm whirling,
pretending all these different emotions.
all aspects of consciousness flow in
to recalibrate.
Visions....
Ecstasy...
Kundalini all day all night. Awareness. Consciousness on over-drive.
Electric nectar of harmony.
She'll do what she pleases,
I suggest you submit
and do not try to control.
(Learn from her! Listen! She is a wonderful teacher)
I am completely at whim....
rattles and hisses
Lot of people repeat mantras over and over...
I prefer the gibberish, myself.
ecstatic being
is what kundalini spawns

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Sun, March 1, 2009 - 9:15 PMYes, it involves a lot more than just controlling the breath, it is a full system of yoga, which involves kriyas, asanas, and meditations. It is designed not only to awaken the Kundalini energy in your body, but also channel that energy. It also connects your mind to the energy in your body as well as to your spirit. It's a great form of yoga, and I find it much more spiritual and enlightening than Hatha-based practices.
My personal practice involves classes a few times a week with experienced teachers as well as daily personal morning meditation and sadhana. The breath work is something I find myself doing throughout the day. I've also been certified to teach, and that helped me understand the practice much more deeply.
It is absolutely not about intercourse, though being more connected to the energy your body may have side benefits in that area. I would not suggest taking up the practice with the intention of improving your sex life because it really doesn't work that way.
I would also suggest finding a good teacher to help get you started. -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 11:22 AMEveryone must elevate their energies out of the sexual chakra, what is called Yesod in
Hebrew mysticism. The best means to do this is to keep cheer, be kind, and reach for
higher mental states. Kundalini during sex (Man/Woman) must be to allow the woman
to experience the pleasure of intercourse sans the loss of energy from the man. It takes
quite a lot of protein and such to vitalize the construction of gametes, and all the related
components. If you hold it, and reduce your desire, constrain yourselves, you will find
there will be some startling effects, unique and individual to each of you. Private concerns.
Exploring oneself. We should all direct pleasant wishes to one another.
Find the means.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 1:50 PMHi Fred,
Kundalini Yoga practice has little to do with sexual intercourse.
Yoga means union. Union with the nexus/source/origin of all things. Infinite awareness.
So yoga practice is a tool whose goal is to refine and elevate the awareness of the practitioner.
Kundalini yoga involves raising the kundalini energy, the concentrated energy of awareness, from the root chakra, or energy center, at the base of the spine, where it lies dormant, up the shushumna, the primary energetic pathway, or miridian in the subtle physical body, through the major chakras, to the crown chakra. The primary way of achieving this is by spending a period of time in meditation every day focusing and concentrating on particular chakras, as well as sitting in meditation with an Enlightened teacher.
Meditation is the foundation of spiritual practice.
Each experience you have in your life, as a spiritual aspirant, yields new opportunities for spiritual growth and lessons that can be augmented and utilized to open new vistas of awareness within your own mind. You recognize these opportunities as tools to advance your own spiritual practice and awareness, as well as that of others.
Ultimately, through diligent, earnest spiritual practice, a yogi breaks the bonds of the ego and attachment to the senses and merges their consciousness with the endless, beautiful, pure bright light of Nirvana.
For *VERY* advanced yogis, it is conceivable to use the experience of sexual union as a tool for Realization. However, the practice is not about sex, it is about merging your mind with God by whatever means possible. Any action you engage in in the physical is secondary.
99.99999 percent of the people out there who proclaim to practice some sort of yoga through sexual intercourse are using a limited understanding of basic spiritual concepts to justify their own indulgence in the senses. Using some limited exoteric scrap of knowledge to make yourself feel better about indulging in the pleasures of the senses and telling yourself that it is spiritual practice will yield it's own result.
Not that there's anything wrong with sex. Nothing wrong with having a beer after work either, but drinking beer is no more of a spiritual practice. Not unless you have mastered spiritual practice. After mastery, everything is spiritual practice. -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 11:42 AMI want to say something further on this. In western esotericism, there are the pairs of opposites, in addition to a central channel, like sushumna in the east. The information is harder to find, it seems, in the eastern tradition, but they too have their Ida and Pingala.
How well developed are they? Qabalah has the various sephiroth, what are the various qualities over there? Perhaps the Buddhist have developed this to a high degree, yet keep it mostly secret, or only to very special initiates. It's probably very good that they do. All the same, the western esoteric tradition is available to all, just order a book from the bookstore, and follow the Hebrew terms, and the succession of book titles. It's all readily available. -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 12:36 PMHi Dr. Nameless,
Thanks for the comment :)
From my own understanding, anything you can read in a book is considered exoteric. The experiences that one can have in meditation and in higher states of awareness is the esoteric study, and can not be learned from a book, nor from a person that can not themselves meditate or access those states of awareness. This is why so much emphasis is placed on the spiritual teacher within a spiritual study. In theory, the spiritual teacher is Enlightened, has been completely liberated from the dualistic nature of Samsara/Maya/Illusion, and exisits in radiant spheres of perfected awareness. By sitting in meditation and engaging in a spiritual study with such a person, the awareness and light they experience can be transmitted to the spiritual aspirant, and that is when the real study begins.
Imagine learning karate or another martial art from a book as opposed to studying with a person who has mastered the art. Sure, you can glean a limited amount of information from a book, the basic subject matter, the theories, etc., but studying with a master of the art stretches far beyond the confines of what can be captured in words.
My advice for a person who has true interest in learning kundalini yoga is to find a teacher who they think is balanced, happy, powerful and has a fantastic sense of humor and study with them. I notice a lot of westerners have an aversion to this idea, that somehow studying with a teacher is giving them some sort of power or influence over you for their own selfish designs, which I think is a valid concern. There are a fair number scam artists out there, so how do you know? A real teacher will exhibit true qualities of selflessness and practice what they teach. If you apply their teachings earnestly, you should notice a definite cumulative transformation in your own awareness and in your life. You should experience, more happiness, balance, peace, and confidence from engaging in a true spiritual study with a genuine spiritual teacher. In other words, a spiritual practice should yield results.
Cheers!

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 5:39 PMNamaste Stella
my interpretation of Ajna's sentence would be that:
" sex and kundalini , both lead to pleasure and bliss. But when we see beyond the bliss, when you surrender even this bliss
that leads the path to the ocean"
The universe guides us through Bliss . It gives us nerves to feel this bliss and enjoy it and want it, so that we can continue on this path.
the bliss of sex is bound closely to reproduction, birth of a new soul in a new body in a new life. the bliss of kundalini is bound closely
to the different Siddhis and powers obtained when each of our chakras open and kundalini gushes past them.
But the true sadhaka/seeker goes beyond these bindings of maya. beyond the bliss of powers of kundalini, beyond the bliss of
attachments of family life.
The search for your true nature can be seen clearly once your ego sleeps and your soul is fooled into thinking that death has arrived.
The state of ego death is when the soul awakens and merges into the universal conciousness and you are One with everything.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Sat, April 4, 2009 - 12:29 PMA startling thing to note is that due to the qualities of the sephiroth, this world is indeed
made for loveplay. The focus on suffering and abstaining from the delights of the body
have occurred because of all the killing and various forms of harm done we people
fail to hold each other in high regard and with compassion. Every sadhu or holy man
in all culutres, every shaman, has had to suffer in gaining his or her insights, to one
degree or another. So in effect these enlightened people suffer for those who still
wish to rule the world, and who do harm to others. This must not last forever. There
is nothing wrong with being an agitator for peace while being strong, persuasive,
but adamant that things change. The common perspective is that this world must
be seen as dualistic, wherein the man suppresses woman, and other men. This
is not backed up by any true philosophy. We're gettting there, getting to the change
we want. -
-
Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 6, 2009 - 3:42 PMDr.,
I would not agree with you completely though. In my mind, suppression or aggression is the need of the Ego. Everything said and done is fine
until we see death , eye to eye. The death could be in the form of a complete death, ( in the middle of an accident or in the hospital when the doctor says you have 1 day to go ) or partial, as in losing a part of the body, losing someone or something very very close.
I can only judge my own feelings and thinking through what I have learnt till now. As I see it, This "balance" in life, is needed to reduce hurt to the ego and at the same time, telling it, that its not real. Many a time by reducing ego , we sometimes lose faith in the fact that
suffering of the ego is as much a part of bodily existence as happiness. By happiness , I dont mean bliss. For bliss is happiness without the ego, without the need to acquire or succeed, or suppressing other people. Bliss is happiness without reason, Bliss is happiness without pleasure, Bliss is permanent indestructible happiness. Bliss is the same, when sipping wine or water , when eating a grain of rice or eating steak in the world's finest, its the same driving a car or walking on foot.
The sadhu or holy man is more interested in spreading his thoughts and attaining recognition from people. He can at best be a teacher or a preacher and is surely not enligtened for he has still not acquired discrimination.
But the one who has realized the self, is everything, and he is the only one who can be termed a Guru and he has no desires
for he has discrimination between the ego and the self.
The only reality is the supreme truth of self or collective consciousness of the universe which may not be attained by intellectual or physical pursuits ( though they may help us in reducing our bodily or intellectual desires ) , we may not achieve it through the "pleasure" or "power" of kundalini, or Marijuana or Psilocybin. Its when thoughts cease to exist and the ego "dies" is when the mind becomes empty, and the soul feels that its free again, just like it was before being born in our body or after our death of the body. The "desire" for emptiness is the beginning of the journey and the annihilation of this desire is the emptiness.
The reason I am posting replies , shows a desire to communicate, a desire to post the correct information , a desire to succeed in convincing people, that itself gives a testimony of the fact , that I am still not enlightened , nor attained discrimination. A time will come
when I lose these desires, and my only desire of emptiness will prevail, till , it vanishes.
That would be the moksha, the nirvana, the union.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 6, 2009 - 4:34 PMI ran into this concept some time back here on tribe:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arhat
It equates with certain other ideas.
I'm not concerned with this modern idea of the ego. Not sure just what part of anyone
that would be seen as these day, though of course in some eyes it has a negative
conotation. I'm not sure what much of your speech about bliss and such really means.
I understand this concept of nirvana to some small degree. I was using the term sadhu
in a laymen's, general sense, having a very limited understanding of such eastern concepts.
I do find that the eastern idea of coming back to save people, or liberate them appeals
for the most part. But how long does that go on? And what happens if that finally occurs?
It has a definite sense of finality to it. Would something new be created, to cause or entertain
more travail, or trouble, or whatever gets someone "hot", or would all those saved stay in
some sort of static state?
Now, this "union", as you put it, it is a union between what and what? How did those what's,
however many there could be, come into existence in the first place? What are their properties?
Who made them? Is anyone conscious, *before they were made*, as to how they would be to one another?
Now, those properties, are they set?
One simple way to look at this is light/dark. Simple duality. Extreme contrast. Neither really exists
in full solely as itself (without the other), and only reach a leve of extremity in opposing one another.
Also, far far below this would be our little duality of man/woman. Perhaps a different sense of the
above. But which bliss is which? Which do people want? How could one observe the supposedly
higher one? Are we here on this planet too restricted in what sort of dualities are available to us?
All the same there seem to be several orders of ideas beyond those shown above. And trap doors,
revolving walls, collapsed ceilings, and other strange things in this, our nightmare mansion of existence.
As to the Arhat idea, what's permanent? I think this place is in some peculiar way the most permanent.
But it, like anything else, wants to die too. Maybe there's a schedule? -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Tue, April 7, 2009 - 12:55 PMNamaste Dr.
Eastern or western philosphy or modern or classical philosophy are just concepts of the human mind separated by positions on the globe and time. Does it matter much when you pan a million miles away from Earth and all you see is just a minuscule insignificant spot ?
Every philosophy I have come across, I tend to absorb and form my understanding of the universe . The internet as I see it, is the collective consciousness of the millions of human beings accessing it and contributing to it. If the universe wants me to learn something, it will teach me through life , and at every instance of life. Every line I write here , is what the universe has taught me till now. If I am wrong then the universe will correct me.
The "I" in the above paragraph is the ego. Its my current concept of who "I" am .
EGO
====
The ego may be a modern concept, but its been ever since as a baby we entered the 3rd month and developed our personality, our idea of good and bad dictated by our senses ( tastes good, then its good, fire burns hand , then its bad, but shines bright so its good ).
The ego, protects us socially, so that we remain safe physically and intellectually . as e.g. If someone calls you Fat or skinny, your ego gets hurt and you start working to regain your lost respect. If someone says " You are the best" the ego feels rewarded and works even harder to stay the best. But the ego is a great friend to have till you have desire to be part of society to give and take . But what happens when you are at age 90 with all organs giving way, years of denial telling yourself that you are still young can dance can do stuff that others can. The ego feels threatened , it doesnt want to cease existing. It wants to live and be happy. The nostaliga is a way of the ego to go back in time, way away from the suffering of the present.
Here death is subjective, it could be a boxer getting a parkinson's disease, a stock broker betting on the wrong stock and losing "everything in life" ( as per his ego) .
Our sufferings in life , can take us either way, either spiritually or materialistically based on at what level are we spiritually.
When we are spiritually not mature, suffering may reduce our self image, we tend to move away from suffering ( ego tells us suffering gives pain...its bad ). When we are grownups ( well not in age but spiritually) , we see suffering as a part of life. The ego shouts...but who is listening ?? The soul tells the ego that its okay ...the suffering is to the body, its to self image , to the respect from other egos but not to the untainted soul.
When the ego listens to the soul and becomes smaller and stronger , it withdraws from the universe. My country, My religion, My language, My Planet, My people, My wife, My child , My father, My mother .......My body, My thoughts, My feelings, My needs , My hunger, My existence...Me..... and finally ..emptiness.
This is the instance in time, where times ceases to exist, for the mind is not moving between past and future, its totally in the present.
There are no thoughts, for they have no importance for the ego. At this time, what is Karma (Deed) ?.....its nothing but the past which is non-existant. Its like a serial which played for a long time on TV, but now the TV is swiched off, the remote is thrown out.
Whats Good , Whats bad...for none of them exist any more . Where there is no Karma, there are none of these bells and whistles which come with it.
With the ego sleeping peacefully Awake..., The soul ( the spiritual force of life, the Atman ) is the only attribute of your personality. The instincts are gone for the need for survival has vanished . The conciousness which was so closely bound to the body
its thoughts and survival is now free of the bounds of ego or Maya. It merges into the consciousness of the universe. When I am the Universe, everything is me , everything is Om , everything is one.
This is Union, The union of our consciousness into the consciousness of the universe. Where "I" am the universe, "I" am that.
I guess that's what the Arhats or saints mean by Nirvana or Zen says Satori or the Kingdom of Alpha and Omega...I dont know , for I am not them as yet. so I can only deduce intellectually. But I will Know for sure when I realize .
Sadhu
=====
A man with a beard and long hair wearing nothing but ashes looks like a Sadhu. But if he starts preaching before he realizes , he is not a Yogi. His need to preach stems from his ego, his love for his philosophy or humanity. He may be a good man, he may be a good Samaritan. But he is not one with the universe. he is just like me. I am talking about all the beautiful ways of the universe, but have not experienced it fully. He cannot be a Guru , nor can I . For people like us, the universe at some point of time, will show us the futility of our actions. It will make us realize that we need to focus more on the inside, continue the good work of quelling the ego .
Duality
======
Is the universe bright or dark ? Isnt the brightness is the presence of light, darkness is the absence of it. So isnt duality
an existance of light ? What is light ? isnt it a wave of electro magnetic radiation which our "Sense of sight" can feel ?
What is bright and dark for a blind man. What is light for a living being whoes eyes can see a million times more frequencies than the human eyes ?
Even the existance of light is nothing but a concept of our sense. In this case a sense of sight.
When the senses cease to exist, there is no sense, there is no light, there no absence of it and hence no darkness, and hence no duality.
The duality in human beings or other species is hormone driven, even the desire to have sexual intercourse is driven by reproduction of the physical being. When sexual desire vanishes, does it matter if you are man or women ? A yogi who has risen above the mooldhara
chakra has no desire for sex. How does it matter if Yogi is a male or female. The duality even here is non existent when you realize that and is pertinent only if there is desire.
Bliss
====
I have found it very easy to distinguish between happiness, pleasure and bliss.
Happiness, comes in small ways in life, its a way of the Ego to stay on the right path.
Pleasure is an aspect of the nervous system. The nerves in our body send a feeling of
goodness to the brain and spinal cord. Eating, Sexual intercourse, massage, Meditation can all give us bodily pleasure.
Bliss is permanent, it comes after the realization that "I " am the universe, there is no reason to be sad or happy for ego no longer exists.
Only Bliss of permanent existence.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 8:42 PMThank you for that. Very nice. You changed your photo, so did I.
I'm a little distracted right now, but I will say something concerning this:
"The duality in human beings or other species is hormone driven, even the desire to have sexual intercourse
is driven by reproduction of the physical being. When sexual desire vanishes, does it matter if you are man
or women ? A yogi who has risen above the mooldhara chakra has no desire for sex. How does it matter
if Yogi is a male or female. The duality even here is non existent when you realize that and is pertinent
only if there is desire."
The idea that sex is "driven by [the desire for the] reproduction of the physical being" is a certain type of
perspective, don't you think? Who desires the reproduction of more phyiscal bodies for souls to enjoy?
Who often desires that the consequence of the sexual act will create a baby? I doubt it is the male involved.
For women, the chance to have a child is a chance to express a deep sense of love (not that this isn't
true for men, once a connection is made with the child, but children depend mostly on the mother,
especially early on in life) for a birth that she has custody of. So, in some senses, from where is the soul deriving?
Did it stay here, to be recycled, did it come from other parts of the universe, did it come from outside this universe,
so on...
I'm not sure anyone ever gets rid of the desire for sex, maybe this works differently in the east, but that
quotient severely bugs the crap out of me, excuse my language. I assume that people like the Dalai Lama
are celibate, but I don't know how much energy they carry, and what rituals they use to cause such thoughts
to abate.
You wrote a lot there... talk later. -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 8:46 PMI think that is two-fold, Mem. It shows up twice on the Tree, both times related to Form, not Force.
In the Qabalah that is. The higher aspect, however one could look at it, may have to do with just
the urge for creation God has, and the need to be recognized. To have bodily consciousness
reflect upon That. It's hard to tell, given that one can see Binah at multiple levels. Oneness
on one side, supposedly set aside once separation occurred, but really that Oneness is the idea
of God in itself *prior* to separation, but then you have that stationed at the second sephirah
generally, and in some sense the Kether above it ceased to exist, but not totally. It's iffy, so far
as my reading has gone. Certainly there are God-names, and Archangel and and order of angels
associated with Kether, but Biblical tradition avers that Metatron was some sort of risen
intelligence, either Enoch, or someone like that. All the same, highly astounding. I largely
put the God-names and the Archangels beyond human comprehension, but as I said, if
it is possible for a conscious "essence" to leave God in some fashion, then it might be possible
to return. I just put it off limits because it seems too intimidating to think of right now.
In Catholic tradition it is said that Gabriel had some interaction with humans, also the
Muslims state this in the Quran, and He was envisaged as human, helping to bring
if I remember correctly both Jesus and John the Baptist to life. Something like that.
To step down from that level, Beriah, must be quite a thing. Really at this point I don't much
understand.
So the greed thing I think is mostly evinced at this, the most lowest of God's assorted levels.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 11:40 PMNamaste Dr.
:-) I thought a photo might put a face to the name...another cover ,,,another aspect of personality.
Back to our discussion Dr.
To reproduce is an instinct. The universe rewards us when we do what we ought to. It give us pleasure for following our instincts.
Its a reward mechanism ...the infamous one using which we train seals to dance for us :-)
when we eat ( the stomach has a huge collection of serotonin receptors which tell the brain that its enough now...I am satisfied. ) . The satiated feeling is the reward.
Reproduction is another instinct. Orgasm in males follows ejaculation of semen . Orgasm in females...well pretty complicated is what I have heard, but it aids , contraction of muscles and pulling in of the deposited semen closer to where the eggs would fall. Even Orgasm has a reason...its the universe's reward to us for reproducing. Man , in an evolutionary society supports his family, hunts for food, feeds the wife and kids. The concept of family /tribes evolved from the need to survive, to survive, you need to win wars, to win wars...the more the merrier. Now that we have governments and law and order, we dont need tribes, we can be isolated and decide to just go for the rewards :D and not the deed for which the reward is given . But how do we go beyond the rewards. Even if the seal gets to the bucket of fish..without dancing though the hoops...its still in the small pool ...in the amusement park...when will it experience the Sea ? Its for us seals to figure out I guess.
Getting rid of desire is difficult ...but nothin is impossible for you, unless you think it is. Man prayed to the moon...but one fine day landed up there ..he did , because he believed it to be.
Dr. there are various ways approximated by spirtual seekers to reverse the flow of energy from the reproductive organs to back to the Sahasra. I have found using a 11 mukhi Rudraksha on the forehead , moves the "pull" on my sexual centre to the neck. Some Yogis have found performing Japa, Some perform various Pranayamas.
You can find your way, you dont need to be at a specific position on the globe for that. Experiment with yourself..thats the best way to find things out.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 8:26 PMIt's funny that you mention discrimination in this post. This is the virtue of the sephirah of Malkuth
in Qabalah, which I might loosely equate with that lowest chakra you mentioned, mooldhara was it?
This is to my thinking the first step in discovering the nature of the qabalistic sephiroth.
It's interesting to me to try to discover what these terms mean, the self and the ego.
I'm not too tremendously concerned, just more occupied in gaining insight into
how people relate these to people's true natures, and their behaviors.
In all truth, from the Easterner's perspective, we see death over and over, don't we?
The Hebrew tradition posits certain layers of reality beyond the universe.
Some may in fact intermingle. I haven't found very well defined information.
Thought dying is a very interesting concept to play with. There is a particular sephirah
that relates to human thoughts on the Tree of Life, Hod. Strangely enough, because of
the designation of the so-called three pillars (much the same as the Eastern Ida, Pingala,
and Sushumna, though I have extremely limited information on that side), Hod sits at the
base of what's called the Pillar of Form, or in human gender terms, the female pillar.
When one looks at the way that at least the Hebrew God-names hash out, all the names
on the female, or form-based pillar are multiple in nature (Elohim or YHVH Elohim, or even YHV Elohim
for Binah, Elohim Gibbor for Geburah, and Elohim Tzavaoth for Hod) whereas the names
on the male, or force-side pillar are all singular (either Yah or YHVH for Chokmah, depending on
what level of the Four Worlds is being spoken of, El for Chesed (think here of the Hasidim),
and YHVH Tzavaoth for Netzach.)
Perhaps you could direct us to a more developed idea of what moksha/nirvana really means?
I've discussed it elsewhere here on this site, but not gotten too detailed of information.
It would be wonderful to discover some new information.
As to the suppression of agression you responded to, I really meant those without any
esoteric or deep spiritual foundation.
I've been trying to trace connections between the Eastern and Western systems, and
what I note is that despite the fact that those three pillars are mentioned in the Eastern
tradition, there is not much free information concerning them, not that I have looked much,
I've been too wrapped up in the western tradition, but those three eastern pillars contrast
with the basic chain or central pillar idea of the Chakras. I wonder what is missing?
I guess there is still plenty of time to investigate, and I don't mind if this information
is kept secret by the Eastern gurus or monks. Though I would like to see it. -

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 12:27 PMNamaste Dr.
I apologize for the delay in replying, I have been caught up with family stuff :D. I have read a book called the Dnyaneshwari ( english version)
www.geocities.com/vshirvaik...ndex.html.
From what I understood, it meant , Birth and Death to the Body , Mind and Emotions are seen in a cycle of birth and death. This happens when the consciousness of the living being during the physical birth is attached to the body , mind and emotions. This I call as Ego.
Throughout the physical life, the living being gets infinite opportunity to learn, where the intellect understands that attachment is shortlived, death is only to the body, the soul is without emotions and is never hurt or ecstatic. Its steady and connected to the universe, for it is always the universe ( and everything in it) .
When the consciousness rises above the bodily attachment, depending on the level to which it has risen, the Ego's need vanishes .
The Moodhara chakra is the lowest chakra and is related to the lowest Ego needs, like food, sex, sleep. When the ego rises above this, the "person" ceases to have a desire of any of the desires related to this Chakra.
The vanishing of all desires needs us to rise above all the Chakras and into the sahasra ( or the junctions of Ida/Pingala and Sushama).
At this point, the ego has no desires left and is completely satiated. There are absolutely no thoughts and the intellect is completely sleeping. This is the state of samadhi.
This emptiness pushes the conciousness to open the final door, that of super conciousness, this is when the personality vanishes completely and the soul becomes one with the universal soul, Trees and stones, Suns and Blackholes, the good the bad, the animals and the in-animate is all me. I am that .
This is nirvana. In this case, the body remains breathless and does not rot for 40 days. If the universe decides, the soul returns back into the body , but consciousness, stays in 3 upper level chakras ( I dont remember their names) but I guess they are Lalan, Golan, Golata.
The person as seen by people can take up any personality , sometimes speaking like a child, sometimes like a old man, but it is ever connected to the universe and hence is never drawn towards material needs. The only reason for rebirth is dictated by the universe.
Lord Shiva ( the initiator of Kundalini Yoga) , Gautama Buddha, Tao, Many Saints like Sai baba, Shankar Maharaj,Swami Samartha have achieved this. They return again and again to guide people, to help people above their materialistic needs and into spiritual needs,
. I think even Moses, Jesus Christ and Mohammad would have achieved this, since there is always a mention of spending 40 days in the mountains in many literature, before coming back from meeting God.
The key to the saraswati nadi is an empty thoughtless mind, you can read any literature, follow any religion, or philosophy, but finally, this is what it comes to. Finally life is short ..and there is always a next life ;-D

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 12:42 PMI apologize for a typo earlier. its Mool (Root) - adhara (Support)
A Chakra is a junction of Ida, Pingala and the Nadis. The Saraswati Nadi is just one of the many nadis. It is the nadi of the Ultimate knowledge. There are also other nadis of creativity, music and other aspects of human personality. But the saraswati is the nadi related
to enlightenment.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 12:57 PM40 is a number of completion. Also, 4 Kabbalistic Worlds, 10 sephirot in each =40.
It also says that there is a need to be without the personality in Dion Fortune's
book Mystical Qabalah, but I think this is a misnomer really. That's associated
with Daath. The personality is the lower four sephirot, nearly the same as your
stated "body , mind and emotions", plus the foundation, Yesod.
I love sleep. Can't give that up. That's abodily need not associated with ego, don't you think?
You're references are to a spiritual joining with the universe. I believe there are orders
of reality beneath the universe.
I don't agree that thoughts are solely associated with the ego, nor do I think the
soul is without emotion.
The eastern idea of nirvana might be a special case.
One can mostly go without a lot of food, that's not hard, I've been doing that my
whole life.
I've got to find my Tibetan Book of the Dead again.
I think that whatever anyone thinks God is, the highest idea of it is only
ever circumambulated, if you get what I mean. Like a singularity. Concentrated
point.
I could see the "intellect sleeping" thing, but this all depends. I like my intellect,
and it can work forever.
I do know that there are some higher levels of the chakras that supercede
the crown chakra. That is about all I've seen.
Thank you, so fun talking with you.
"Finally life is short ..and there is always a next life"
There is a way out of here, but I'm not seeing any evidence it survives
in most eastern traditions, so far...

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 1:19 PMNamaste Dr.
I couldnt get the famous picture of all nadis, but I got this article which enumerates the different nadis.
www.theholisticcare.com/Kundal...als.htm
"I love sleep. Can't give that up. That's a bodily need not associated with ego, don't you think? "
- It is a bodily need. When the consciousness moves above this, the bodily need vanishes. The mind is forever at rest .
"One can mostly go without a lot of food, that's not hard, I've been doing that my whole life."
- From my experience, it has not been about convincing oneself how easy it is to give up food, but to convince oneself
of how simple are our real needs.
"I don't agree that thoughts are solely associated with the ego, nor do I think the soul is without emotion. "
- An example question is , Are you emotional in deep sleep ? What happens when the soul gets angry as opposed to the intellect getting angry?
It was a pleasure (intellectual) talking with you too,
May the universe guide you to nirvana

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Tue, May 26, 2009 - 3:58 PMHi
I did some research on the level of consciousness which we consider as wakefulness. I got to the description on the "Manas Chakra" on kheper.net (www.kheper.net/topics/cha...Manas.htm). This concept seems to deal with the state of consciousness when we are awake and working. So when you are sleeping ( deep sleep..when there are no-thoughts)...this chakra becomes black in colour.
And when you are awake and have no thoughts, it turns white in colour. In all other cases, the type of thoughts/dreams dictate the colour of the chakra.

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Fri, April 24, 2009 - 11:01 AMRPT is the only organization today which advocates the concept of accumulating the maximum amount of pranic energy in one’s body through the practice of pranayama (breathing practice). Moreover RPT emphasizes on material and spiritual enhancement in every human life through the utilization of this pranic energy. What is PRANIC ENERGY? Pranic energy is the ultimate energy force that keeps the entire Universe operating in an organized manner. This is the basic form of energy from which all other types of energy forces and potentials are derived.
This basic form of energy is the life-sustaining force which keeps the universe and all its animate and inanimate objects "alive". Organic and inorganic cycles are also operating based on this subtle energy. One’s ability to acquire and penetrate the skill of accumulating pranic energy in one’s body rests totally in the hands of the Master who teaches it. As for RPT, the Divine Master, Yoga Jnana Sitthar Om Sri Rajayoga Guru has completely mastered this art and possesses the ability to transmit the skills of utilizing one’s own pranic energy, to disciples. This is only possible after the empowerment session, as he/she will be able to utilize this pranic energy to achieve success in both material and spiritual domains. These skills and abilities are achievable by anyone regardless of race, religion or nationality. The process of transmitting the skills and termed empowerment is made possible by the Divine Master’s complete mastery of the science of Rajayoga.
Those who are practising this yogic power have seen success in the following areas:
Health
• General well being
• Complete self healing
• Ability to heal others
• Youthful appearance
Self Development
• Increased mental alertness
• Increased creativity
• Increased self confidence
• Strong intuition
• Ability to remove mental blocks and weaknesses
• Increased efficiency and better time management
Family
• Family unity
• Better communication with spouse and children
Career
• Increased career development
• More career opportunities and advancement
• Better inter-personal communication
Finance
• Increased earning capacity
• Financial freedom
Spirituality
• Self realization and a sense of purpose in life by doing meditation

Re: So ... HOW do you PRACTICE Kundulini?
Sun, July 26, 2009 - 7:26 PMI do have a teacher who has taught me the nada (sounds) for each of the chakra.
Practice, is one hour silent-meditation (ajapa-japa) in the morning and as long as possible in the night (if the stomach is not too overloaded).
Experience - I can feel all my chakras and can open and close them at will. During meditation i experience a lot of vibrations on my right side brain. Sometimes leading to headache.
